Hi, partners
The work assignments for this week were really complex and interesting of course. I have learned a lot, first of all I am very worried and happy too use the delicious tool, my class and I had a discussion about the delicious and in what way we can apply in the current course, because it’s a great tool in order to keep the students very active and be ready to up as many web sites as they can in order to class needs.
I think to talk about skills, we necessarily need to mention listening and speaking in order to develop oral-aural skills, the activities which works best are those where we can use lively activities and some very useful ideas for example the use of the radio, TV, video, songs and games, some repetitions of stories, tongue twisters, including in the activities the TPR total physical response in order to motivate all the class and obviously create the perfect environment, becoming students self-confident and cheer up their participation.
Hi Edu!
ReplyDeleteNice words about teaching aural-oral skills! I totally agree with you that the tasks and assignment should cheer up and create a secure learning environment. These are the main criteria of good results in language learning!!
Delicious is an amazing tool! What was your students' reaction? Did they like delicious? How difficult was it to introduce it to them?

ReplyDeleteHi Edu,
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you are saying. Moreover, I think that listening is to be the first skill you teach. In practice, most teachers get their students talking on the first day of class and by doing it they tend to downplay the skill of listening, as do many textbooks. Yet listening is probably the more important skill involved in foreign language learning, as it certainly is in the acquisition of one’s native tongue.
Though “homophones”, aural and oral skills can't be separated. Actually in class, we cannot focus only on a separate skill. In fact they all overlap. And this is not only my idea – this week’s learning materials made us think and work in that way.
Hi Eduardo,
ReplyDeleteThis week is really loaded! It is hard to find simple thing to be interesting:) To be interesting one has to be complex.
I feel this week has much to offer to the teacher of the Gen-Next.
One may see stone as a stone but the gifted would see stone as a future masterpiece. And you have started this with the thinking on the possibilities with the information given.
Keep it up.
Hi Eduardo,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, this week was harder than the last one, but it also was productive. About the delicious I am going to use with my students too.
I pretend to give them new resources to facilitate their learning. Using these web tools they could find lots of information and explore new interests.
I also agree when you say that lively activities such as radio, TV programs, videos and others definitely motivate and create a good environment to learn a new language.
Bye,
Hello Eduardo
ReplyDeleteI like the way you are thinking about integrating technology with other teaching methods, like TPR. We should not forget what works and what our basic foundations are when we use the added tool of technology.
